3 Reasons to Book Travel Online

What About Travel Agents? 3 Reasons to Book Travel Online

Q. My friend is a travel agent and she says that it's cheaper and smarter to book travel through a travel agent rather than online. What do you think?

A. I respect your friend's opinion, but I tend to disagree. I think that online travel shopping beats human travel shopping in three ways: convenience, price, and customer support. Here's why..

Convenience

Booking a flight online is super quick and super convenient. Easy enough that a small child could do it means no more waiting for a travel agent to call you back with confusing quotes or minute details. Even the simplest of travel sites makes finding cheap airfare a matter of filling in and clicking. Everything can be performed from the comfort of your home without even getting out of your pajamas.

Customer Support

You're probably thinking that a travel agent has the upper hand here, but I assure you that most of the top travel sites have 24-hour customer support meaning you can call them up at anytime and receive assistance from a customer support representative. In addition, these customer support agents are also available to help you if you have problems in the online environment. While you probably won’t need to talk to anybody, it's  good to know that human assistance is always available. Can you call your travel agent at 2:00am?

Price

The biggest advantage to oonline travel shopping is price. Competition for your travel dolar is steep which translates into money in your pocket. There are great travel deals online on flights, and those deals are also present on vacation packages, car rentals, hotel stays, and so much more. Some travel websites even offer a price matching guarantee where they will refund the difference if you find a cheaper flight.

So my conclusion is to shop for travel online - without question the best way to go!

I am totally disagree. I own a travel agency and customers call me when they have problem with online travel sites: Price change without notice; give customer wrong information; they cannot reach those online web sites when they have problem. Now those online travel companies selling customer data. It is not right at all

Tha fact that online fares are a few clicks away from the traveller is a very good reason enough.... ^^
