Have you tried Kayak for your travel searches yet?
Kayak is a "meta-search engine" - essentially a website that allows you to search all of the other travel websites (airfare, hotel, car rental, and cruise websites) and discover fares and prices all at once. Kayak is not a travel agency, but a web search service. If you select a service, fare or price, Kayak's website then redirects you to the website where you can reserve the flight, hotel room or car rental.
It works great, and I find its layout and presentation easy to use. More importantly, Kayak's results are surprisingly accurate and helpful. A helpful feature, you can request periodic updates on fares and they'll email you this cool chart that shows exactly which days are the cheapest to fly:
More information is available on the Kayak Website.

I am suprised I am not seeing more about Southwest Airlines. I find that they are almost always the cheapest with the absolute best service of any airline that I fly. I also found a great little too called Book Me that gets me an "A" group assignment without be on Southwest's "A-List" or paying extra. I found it @ http://bookme-southwest.blogspot.com with a free trial.
